Are you Qualified?

According to a survey completed by PrimeCareerBuilder.com, in a recent nationwide survey, nearly one in four human resources managers receive on average 75 resumes for each open position.  Other notable findings include that nearly half of the resumes received are from unqualified candidates.  Nearly 40% of HR managers spend one to two minutes reviewing new applications.

Over the past few months, KEEB has seen a gradual increase in the number of candidates applying for positions.   Please create your resumes carefully and include a quick snapshot of your skills and accomplishments.  Also ensure that you are qualified for the position in terms of certification and licensure.  If you are working toward a particular licensure, be sure to include your progress.  If you have questions concerning licensure, please contact Teacher Education and Licensure at 785-291-3678 or visit http://www.ksde.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1648.

The issue of qualification is a pertinent one as we move forward into a highly highly connected world. Teaching pedagogy has evolved to employ exciting new techniques that parallel the fast-paced nature of our world. The downside is that teaching is now a tremendously competitive field. Just like teachers, schools talk among each other about what works and what not. Everyone is expecting the best.
